Playful Geometric Notation

A Line Goes Walking

A single ink line wanders the warm paper canvas step by step, tracing a random path from a teal start-dot to a terracotta head; fades and resets on a loop.

When to use it

Art-themed backgrounds, creative portfolio hero sections, generative-art or Bauhaus-inspired aesthetic contexts.

When not to

Content-heavy layouts where gentle looping motion competes with reading; contexts requiring pure static illustration.

Working with an AI agent

Every component ships agent-ready metadata. An example instruction for this one:

Change MAX to 60 for a longer path, set INK to '#1a1a2e' for a darker line, and increase the step range from 18+34 to 30+50 for wider strides. Theme: dark tokens live in :root, the light variant in :root[data-theme="light"]; ?theme=light or a {type:'forever:theme'} postMessage switches at runtime.

Safe to edit

  • segment count (MAX=42)
  • step size range (18+Math.random()*34)
  • ink color (INK='#2a2620')
  • start-dot color (TEAL='#3a8a8c')
  • head-dot color (TERRA='#c96f4a')
  • fade duration (1.7 seconds)
  • theme tokens (:root dark defaults + [data-theme=light] overrides)

Keep intact

  • IIFE wrapper
  • prefers-reduced-motion guard (REDUCED)
  • visibilitychange pause/resume
  • DPR-aware fitCanvas()
  • theme hook (?theme= bootstrap + forever:theme message listener + theme tokens)

Known limitations

  • Background color is hardcoded in both CSS (#efe7d6) and canvas fill — must change in two places
  • No pointer interactivity; purely autonomous
